Fit for a Queen
The month of May is filled with celebrations like Mother’s Day, Memorial Day and College graduation and this year we were privileged to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.
On May 6, King Charles III and Queen Camilla Consort celebrated their ascension to the throne adorned in royal ceremonial Crown Jewels with millions of viewers in awe. The Crown Jewels include over 100 extraordinary diamonds and gemstones found in orbs, scepters, and crowns. One crown was particularly eye catching.
Queen Camilla wore Queen Mary’s Crown and had been redesigned with the Cullinan III, IV and V diamonds. Unfamiliar with these diamonds? The Cullinan III is a spectacular 94.4 carat Pear shaped diamond floating atop the crown followed by the Cullinan V, a Heart shaped 18.8 carat diamond and finally the Cullinan IV a 63.6 carat Square cut diamond.
The Cullinan diamonds are the largest gem -quality diamonds ever found. The original rough diamond weighed 3,106 carats and was discovered in South Africa in 1905. It is estimated to have been formed below the Earth’s surface 1.18 billion years ago. This is why Natural Diamonds are rare, valuable and a treasure to wear.
