Ballston Spa man $500 richer after winning coin hunt (WRGB CBS 6)

COLONIE, N.Y (Friday, April 29 th 2019 )- A Capital Region man is $500 richer thanks to a unique quarter. He's the winner of a coin hunt put on by a local business.

David Himmel sold one of his newly-minted "W" quarters to Ferris Coin and Jewelry on Wolf Road in Colonie.

The Ballston Spa native says he always looks through his pocket change, and keeps anything that looks out of the ordinary. He found the coin, and brought it down to the shop after watching a CBS6 report.

The "W" indicates the coins were made at the West Point Mint in New York's Hudson Valley. Himmel has two other quarters marked with the "W.”

He says he'll probably give one to his kids, and hold onto the other one.
