Its name, lavallière, comes from French stage actress Ève Lavallière and was popularized by the Duchesse de la Vallière, a mistress of King Louis XIV of France.   The lavallière is recognizable by its drop design, use of a single gemstone, and chandelier-like style. This necklace features a graceful, curved drop design using Amethyst and Natural Pearls. The floral embellishments and bead setting of the pearls date back to the 1880-1900s.
