Celebrating the Romantic Period
1837-1860

Symbolizing eternal love, divinity and wisdom, the Serpent motif has been utilized in precious body adornments dating back to the bygone civilizations of Ancient Greece and Egypt.

The concept of wearing jewelry comprised of serpents was reintroduced in the mid-nineteenth century, gaining massive popularity after Prince Albert of England proposed to Queen Victoria with a golden ring set with a large emerald and accompanied by petite rubies and diamonds.

Today, serpent jewelry maintains it popularity as evidenced by its presence in the designs of large jewelry houses such as Cartier, Tiffany, Bulgari and Boucheron.
